Customers often ask me a wide variety of questions about OZONOS. I have summarized the most frequently asked questions here so that you can quickly and easily find the answer you are looking for. Health

Is ozone dangerous?

Although ozone is a very strong oxidizing agent, it has a short lifespan. In natural concentrations, ozone has no negative effect on our health.

The ozone levels we encounter in everyday life are:

0.005 – 0.01 ppm strong forest air

0.03 – 0.12 ppm city center

0.048 ppm OZONOS AC-1 or AC-2 Standard

(Is for permanent use
and thus allows you to stay in the same room 24 hours / 7 days. In most cases, this is absolutely sufficient for private users.)

0.115 ppm AC-1/2 PLUS or 0.210 ppm OZONOS AC-1/2 PRO

The OZONOS AC-1/2 PLUS and AC-1/2 PRO are not designed for 24/7 use, where people are constantly in the same room. In this case, we recommend not staying in the room for longer than 8 hours continuously while the device is in operation. OZONOS AC-1 PLUS and AC-1 PRO are particularly suitable for professional use and for faster and more intensive cleaning.

For which allergies can the OZONOS Aircleaner be helpful?

The use of the OZONOS Aircleaner is particularly useful for people with pollen, animal or house dust allergies. It eliminates the allergens that are the cause and trigger of allergic reactions.

Can OZONOS weaken the immune system?

In all studies conducted to date on OZONOS , no weakening of the immune system was observed. In fact, ozone is a natural gas and an important component of the natural formation of oxygen, which contributes to the survival of humans and animals.

How does the OZONOS differ from an ozone generator?

OZONOS differs significantly from so-called ozone generators. Ozone generators use very high voltages to generate ozone and/or ionized air using electrical discharges (corona discharges). The latter are also known commercially as ionizers. The disadvantage: Corona discharges generate toxic nitrogen oxides (NOX) in normal room air - the main pollutant in summer smog and absolutely undesirable in room air. In addition, the amount of ozone generated is usually more than 1,000 mg/h, which is much higher than, for example, with OZONOS at 2.5 mg/h (model OZONOS AC-I). The high ozone value in a generator also attacks the surfaces. High-gloss surfaces can become matt and the soft tissue is removed from the materials. Carpets/walls can flake and become brittle. This does not happen with OZONOS. The use of conventional ozone generators is only possible in a very controlled manner, and staying in the same room during cleaning is strongly discouraged.
In contrast, the OZONOS has been proven to be completely harmless to humans and animals and no harmful by-products are produced. It has received TÜV certification and household appliance approval. The OZONOS Aircleaner is produced exclusively in Austria in accordance with ISO 9001:2015 and is subject to strict controls. It is therefore not the same as ozone generators that are harmful to health.

Where can I find scientific information about the technology?

Ing. Dipl.-Ing. Mag. Dr. techn. Richard Brunauer published a scientific evaluation of OZONOS technology in November 2019. The questions and answers provide extensive, scientifically based background information and arguments as to why the OZONOS Aircleaner works and is safe for humans and animals. What happens to the eliminated particles?

All so-called waste products disintegrate into dust or dissolve without leaving any residue. Since every household or business is cleaned regularly, these are removed anyway through normal cleaning work.

How does ozone clean the air?

The third oxygen atom of O₃ is only weakly bound to the other two. It therefore easily separates from them to combine with other substances. This bond causes the oxidation (elimination) of odor-causing substances, germs, viruses, bacteria, mold spores and allergens.

What is ozone?

Ozone is a form of oxygen that contains three oxygen atoms, O₃, instead of the normal two oxygen atoms, O₂, like the oxygen in the atmosphere. Ozone is a harmless but very useful substance. It reacts with organic substances to oxidize (eliminate) unpleasant odors and bacteria. If ozone does not find a substance with which it can react, it decomposes completely into O₂ (oxygen) after a short time.
The OZONOS generates ozone through ultraviolet radiation, just as it happens in nature. Our patented and TÜV-certified process copies the natural formation of ozone in the ozone layer to eliminate odors, germs and viruses without leaving any residue.

How much maintenance does the OZONOS require?

The UVC lamp usually lasts around 8,000 - 10,000 hours. Then its effectiveness decreases and it should be replaced. With an average use of 8 hours a day, this is at least 3 years after purchase.
The replacement lamps are available in my shop. We generally recommend having the replacement carried out by a specialist. However, it is very easy for someone with good DIY skills to replace the UVC lamp themselves. When the lamp is delivered, there is a detailed description of how to replace it in the device.
The OZONOS products do not require any filters or chemical additives and are therefore completely maintenance-free.

Option 1: You send us the air cleaner and we replace the UVC replacement lamp. The cost is €49 plus the cost of the UV-C replacement lamp.

Option 2 : We send you the UVC lamp and you take care of the exchange. We generally recommend calling in a specialist. If you or a third party replaces the replacement lamp, we must point out that this will void the guarantee we provide.

How long can the OZONOS run?

The OZONOS AC-1 and 2 can be used around the clock. With the AC-1 PLUS and AC-1 PRO models, we must advise you to leave the room after 8 hours at the latest. In principle, however, you can rely on your senses when using the OZONOS: If you can smell the ozone, that means that there are no more substances in the air with which it can react. The room is clean and the OZONOS can be switched off.

How long does the OZONOS have to run until the room is clean?

The time required to sterilize a specific room or object depends on the temperature, humidity and concentration of reactive substances currently present there. The time required and functionality are not dependent on room ventilation.

The installation height is crucial.

Ozone sinks downwards and bad air rises upwards. Therefore, the OZONOS should be placed as high as possible. For optimal effectiveness, we recommend a height of at least 2 m. However, this is not so relevant in a mobile home or caravan, as we have a much lower ceiling height and room size.

What can I use OZONOS for?

OZONOS eliminates odors, aerosol grease, viruses, bacteria, mold spores and allergens without leaving any residue. This makes it a versatile problem solver for the home and workplace.

It does its job better than any extractor hood. Aerosol fats are broken down and eliminated in the steam during cooking. No extractor hood can remove odors quickly and without leaving any residue.

There are three different device strengths

Using the right device depends on the application.
For example, in a doctor's office with many patients, the use of a more powerful device is of course recommended. At home or in a mobile home, however, the load is much lower and therefore the AC-1 is sufficient here.

OZONOS AC-1 and AC-2
For long-term use. For normal odors and low levels of bacteria, viruses or germs. Where? Allergy-friendly bedrooms and living rooms, smaller common rooms, buses and mobile homes.

OZONOS AC-1 PLUS
For quick and intensive cleaning. For more intense odors and high levels of bacteria, viruses or germs. Where? Kitchens, offices, changing rooms, sales rooms, toilets, classrooms, doctor's offices and waiting areas.

OZONOS AC-1 PRO
For professional use. Where? Garbage rooms, industrial kitchens, workshops, ski boot rooms, drying rooms.

What air flow rate does the OZONOS have?

The OZONOS has an air flow rate of approx. 55 m³/25 m² per hour. The OZONOS can be used in rooms of up to 50 m² (with normal room height). The more central and higher the positioning, the more effectively the OZONOS can work. (at least 2 m)

Price is high because:

  • OZONOS has been in development for 2 years.
  • We have all the certifications that prove the device is completely safe.
  • TÜV/CE, URL, laboratory tests prove that it works.
  • It has the strictest certification, the household appliance certification. This means that nothing would happen to an infant lying next to the OZONOS.
  • It is made in Austria and is not an uncertified import from Asia.
  • Highly sensitive processor that limits the ozone level/emission.
  • Special baffles that ensure that the ozone is enriched throughout the room.
